Film
Overview:
My understanding
of film and its importance in photography has evolved greatly
since I began. When I first started taking pictures, any type
of print film at Wal Mart would do. The print film route led
to much frustration as I never got the results that I had
hoped for - part of this was due to my inexperience with determining
exposure but part was due to the processing labs. My discovery
in the past few years of color positive film (slide film)
has greatly increased my enjoyment of photography.
Each type
of film has great variation in the results that you can
achieve in terms of color rendition, grain, and the range
of contrast the film is able to reveal. In the following
quick film reviews (see links below) I will try to give
you my observations of the following types of film and
where I would recommend them.
