Every year around last Weekend in July or the first weekend in August, the Central Texas Ballooning Association sponsors flights from Lake Travis in Austin.

The event is unique in that it allows people to get up and close to the balloons at the launch site.

The balloons take off from a hilltop at Mansfield Dam Park at around 6:45 in the morning.
